A 10-month online live Montessori-based Early Childhood Care and Education course for educators and parents, designed for children aged 2½ to 6 years (LKG to Class 1).
SchoolScape’s Montessori Preprimary Course is designed for teachers, educators, and parents. It offers schools an opportunity to establish new programmes or bring meaningful change into existing classrooms – systematically, thoughtfully, and in tune with the vision of education outlined in the NEP, aligned with international practices for this age group.
Beginning in January, the course prepares participants to introduce these changes from the next academic year. The Montessori approach allows schools and professionals to adapt its principles and practices effectively within existing systems.
The focus of the course is to help participants learn and practice pedagogy that can be meaningfully applied in schools and education programmes. Learning takes place through a rich mix of:
- Lecture-discussions, demonstrations of activities, experiential learning, presentations, seminars
- Group reading and discussions, observation and practice teaching, written assignments
- Games and exercises, supervised practice sessions, material preparation, opportunities for reflection and analysis
Skills such as singing, artwork, leading discussions, storytelling, writing, and reading are woven seamlessly into the programme.
Course Curriculum
The course covers the application of Montessori pedagogy to children aged 2½ to 6 years and is structured into four sections: Child Development, Theory of the Montessori Approach, Practical Demonstration and Lectures in various domains, and Observation and Practice Teaching.
The programme equips educators and parents to help children learn:
with respect for the child, rather than sympathy or patronizing
with clarity and understanding, rather than mechanically by rote
to become independent and successful, rather than curb their development
Teachers will soon see children embrace learning with joy, responsibility, and healthy social interactions. This training benefits not just the child, but parents, educators, and schools – upgrading the overall level of learning and academic outcomes.
Participants are introduced to democratic processes and culture, deepening their understanding of democracy in the classroom, society, and daily life.
Class Schedule
Classes are held three days a week, Thursdays and Fridays in the afternoons and on Saturdays in the morning, to suit the convenience of working teachers, parents, and schools.
