SUMMARY:Wisdom of Ayurveda on the Dining Table
DESCRIPTION:Topic: Wisdom of Ayurveda on the Dining Table \nDate: Saturday\, 10th December & Sunday 11th December 2016 \nTime: 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM IST \nAnchor: Amukta Mahapatra \nResource Persons: Dr. Nikhil Mehta; Cata Fuentes; Blanca Obyrne \nThe basic purpose of this workshop is to empower every individual with knowledge about healthy living and to enable the participant to take complete control of one’s own health. The workshop will encompass the best among the eastern wisdom and western science to make it a complete integrated approach to health. The basic philosophy is based upon the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda. \nThis workshop will enable the participant to become aware about the intricate and dynamic connections between food\, body\, mind and our environment and thus enable us to regain the lost communication between us and our body. Once we have this simple knowledge about our food and our life-style\, it will enable us to keep one healthy without any complicated modern medical system. It is not our destiny that we are sick\, but it is our ignorance about right living or not following right lifestyle that makes us sick. \nThe workshop will not only introduce the participants about the concepts of Ayurveda but will also cover details on Panchmahabhoota (five elements) theory\, Tri-dosha theory (Vata\, Pitta\, Kapha)\, six taste theory\, digestive fire and food concepts\, household remedies\, Panchkarma and importance of mental health. This will also enable the participant to make dynamic changes in our food based on our body constitution\, environment; will also enable us of ways of “listening to our body” and creating the environment. \nDr. Nikhil MehtaAbout Cata & BlancaDr. Nikhil Mehta\nDr. Nikhil Mehta\, an MBBS graduate has been practicing Ayurveda in Pune\, since 1998. He has learnt Ayurveda from many senior masters. He has been practicing using the basic principles of Ayurveda with very minimal medicines. His approach is to use the best of the eastern wisdom and western science and to encompass an “integrated” approach to all health issues. At present\, along with his private practice at Pune\, he is devoting his time in spreading the wisdom of Ayurveda. \nHe strongly believes that our body has the inherent intelligence to correct the imbalance in our health\, only if one can learn the art of “listening to our body”. The ultimate aim is to increase the sensitivity and awareness about one’s own health problems. If one can learn that art\, one can take care of most of our health issues. \nHe strongly emphasizes that only each individual can best take care of one’s health rather than anyone else. His vision is to make society as independent as possible in understanding health problems. He believes that any common man can learn this “art”\, verify it on himself and thus master this “art” to enable us to lead a healthy and happy life. \nAbout Cata & Blanca\nContemporary nomads around the planet since long back\, we’ve lived in different countries\, eaten and cooked many kinds of foods\, shared our lives with people of several cultural backgrounds\, walked in a wide variety of places and landscapes… The Americas\, Europe and Asia are with us in the learnings and unlearnings we’ve collected along our journey… \nTravelling in India since 2002\, we’ve been gifted by this country’s generosity with its ancient wisdom that has brought Vipassana Meditation\, different forms of Yoga and Ayurveda to be a part of our life… \nWe started learning Ayurveda in 2003 with Dr. Nikhil Mehta in Pune\, through theoretical and practical seminars. And since then\, we have practiced it in our daily life as well as spread it through formal and informal activities we’ve carried out in different places and with a variety of audiences.
